Note! This course is available as both an evening class and a 5-week accelerated day class.
Comprehensive Massage Therapist training program with the emphasis on Swedish Massage techniques, musculoskeletal anatomy, body mechanics for the therapist, clinical practices, applications, business aspects and hands-on experience. Students learn how to give a Swedish full body massage with a flowing, thorough and effective style. This course combines lecture, demonstrations, tools, techniques, and professional skills, along with hands-on experiences in the classroom. Use of simulation exercises, demonstration of techniques, proper draping, ethics, use and maintenance of the massage table and peer assistance/practice are also included. Additional emphasis is on learning marketing strategies, developing business practices, and ethics.
This course takes 12 weeks to complete and is offered every three months. Classes are held three evenings a week, three hours per evening. This class is also available as an accelerated 5-week day class. Taught in an independent modular format. Also, offered Monday thru Friday for four weeks. Student to bring own linens, (twin size fitted sheet, twin top sheet, and single pillowcase) and a hand towel, for personal use. Students will be responsible for bringing and laundering their own linens. Pen, pencil, paper, and a highlighter are required for class participation.
A diploma for 130 hours as a Massage Therapist
is awarded upon successful completion. Graduates enter the workplace in
an entry-level position to gain employment in massage offices and private
practice, physicians ’ offices, hospitals, chiropractic offices,
health clubs and fitness centers, spas and resorts. Students have the
opportunity to continue on in preparation and advance to the next level
as an Advanced Massage Therapist (Level II). |
